Helicopters of the Italian Army; Text and Photograph's by Alex van Noye

On Tuesday, September 18th, four Italian helicopters arrived at the Belgian air base Kleine-Brogel. The formation consisted of two CH-47C Chinook transport helicopters and two Augusta A129 Mangusta attack helicopters. The helicopters were from the Italian airbase Viterbo which is located near the city of Rome. The helicopters at this airbase are all part of the first army aviation regiment of the Italian Army (1°Reggimento dell'Aviazione dell'Esercito 'Antares'). Several helicopters came this week to Kleine-Brogel to operate in a jointly hold large-scale exercise. Besides the Italians, also Belgians and Germans were present for this exercise with A-109 and UH-1D helicopters.
